Support to the Necker Children’s Hospital

Groupama Immobilier is a long-standing backer of the Necker Children’s Hospital. We recently contributed to the creation of a specific place, La Suite, where young patients prepare for their move to the world of adult hospitals. This year, our company is backing NGO Toujours Près (“Always Nearby”), which helps the parents of children hospitalised for long periods of time to find accommodation near the hospital.

This non-profit organisation helps the families of the Necker Hospital’s young patients remain at their children’s bedside, providing them with a fully furnished home near the hospital for the duration of the treatment – for periods ranging from two months to about one year.

Indeed, more than 20% of the hospital’s children come from outside the Paris Region or even from abroad. Many families cannot afford to rent a flat in Paris to remain near their children.
Yet the importance of having one or both parents at the side of a child who is fighting disease has been widely demonstrated. It is highly reassuring when families can stay together and comfort and encourage their children in the best possible conditions. It can actually save their lives.
Beneficiary families are only asked to contribute a fraction of the accommodation costs – compared to the market price for a hotel room or a rented flat.

Groupama Immobilier, through the group’s healthcare-focused foundation (Fondation Groupama), made a donation to Toujours Près covering among other things the payment of various taxes (e.g. the real estate tax), services fees (excluding exceptional works), cleaning and maintenance costs related to ordinary wear and tear, and the purchase of furniture or appliances for new flats.

To Groupama Immobilier, providing this comfort, consolation and support to families worried about their ailing children is an obvious decision, perfectly in line with the company’s values expressed in the icare acronym.

Extending our patronage of the Palladio Foundation

Groupama Immobilier continues to support the action of the Fondation Palladio, under the auspices of the Fondation de France. We will back the Foundation’s work in 2018 and 2019 and its mission of helping to invent and build the city, the living environment and workspaces of the future, to anticipate the needs and practices of the coming decades, and to create smart, inclusive, sustainable cities.

All the disciplines that contribute to the “factory” of the city are involved and invited to contribute: development, architecture, construction, law, economics, finance, real estate, engineering, sociology, urban planning, etc.

This year, several key topics will be addressed:

  • Longer life expectancy and new real estate and urban responses.
  • The emergence of the “Society of Urban Dwellers” and the development of megacities (Grand Paris, etc.).
  • The evolution of technologies and their impact on real estate and urban development (BIM, 3D printing, additive construction, etc.).
  • Resource scarcity and energy savings in buildings and the city.
  • The evolution of behaviour and practices and its impacts on real estate and urban development (the third place, coworking, participatory housing, e-commerce…).
  • The land and property revolution.
  • Consideration of human factors in real estate and urban development (impoverishment, exclusion, etc.).

The challenges are many. They are technical, technological and human in nature and Groupama Immobilier is delighted to contribute to this wonderful collaborative adventure.

Groupama Immobilier signs the Biodivercity pledge

Groupama Immobilier responded to the call of the International Biodiversity Property Council (IBPI) and signed, on 15 March at the MIPIM property market exhibition, the code to develop greenery and biodiversity in cities.

The signatories are real estate stakeholders involved in the design, development and management of the city. They pledge to include more planted areas, foster the development of fauna, and encourage urban agriculture in every existing or planned urban project, for everyone’s wellbeing.

BiodiverCity aims to reconcile construction work with plant and animal life. This innovative approach should accelerate the development of a new typology of buildings that includes scientific ecology and makes more room for nature in cities.
